    BetterBanners

BetterBanners adds bigger banners and new ways to place them. You can craft Large and Huge banners, hang any banner as a flag on a fence or other post, and turn flags to 16 different directions.

    Banner sizes

Banners now come in three sizes. Large and Huge banners keep the colour and pattern of the banner you made them from.

    Normal1ร—Large2.2ร—Huge3.6ร—
    SizeHow bigHow to get it
NormalThe regular bannerCraft it as usual
LargeAbout 2.2 times as bigCraft from a normal banner
HugeAbout 3.6 times as bigCraft from a Large banner

    Crafting Large and Huge banners

Put one banner in the middle of a crafting table and fill the other eight slots with wool. The wool can be any colour, and you can mix colours.

    Banner in the middleYou get
    Normal bannerLarge banner
    Large bannerHuge banner
Huge bannerNothing, it can't be made any bigger

The new banner is named for its size, for example "Large Red Banner", and its tooltip says Large or Huge.

    Placing flags

Right-click a fence, wall, iron bars, chain, glass pane, lightning rod or end rod while holding a banner. The banner becomes a flag that shows on both sides of the post. The flag is the same size as the banner you are holding, so a Huge banner makes a Huge flag.

Fence gates don't count as posts.

    Rotating flags

A flag turns to match the way you are facing when you place it. It snaps to the nearest of 16 directions, 22.5 degrees apart, so you can angle a flag much more finely than the four compass directions.

    NESW

You can put more than one flag on the same post if they point in different directions. If you try to place a second flag in the same direction, you'll see "A banner is already on this side."

Large and Huge banners on walls and floors

Right-click any block with a Large or Huge banner to place it on that side of the block.

    • On the side of a block: the banner hangs on that wall and faces the way the wall faces.
    • On the top or bottom of a block: the banner stands upright and rotates to match where you are facing, in the same 16 directions as flags.
    • On a fence or other post: you get a flag. Hold sneak while you click to hang the banner on that side of the post instead.

Each side of a block holds one banner.

    Banners on beds

Hold sneak and right-click a bed with a normal banner to lay the banner on it. Each bed holds one banner, and Large and Huge banners can't go on beds.

    Removing banners

Right-click a banner's block with shears. The banner pops off as an item you can pick up, and the shears lose 1 durability outside creative mode.

Breaking, burning, flooding or blowing up the block a banner is on, or pushing it with a piston, also drops the banner. Breaking the block in creative mode removes it without a drop.

    For server admins

BetterBanners needs the DefCoreLib plugin installed alongside it. To reload the banner settings after editing banner-config.yml, run /defcorelib reloadbanners. It needs the corelib.admin permission.

    Rules

The server rules will be stored here.

    Towny (Towns & Nations)

Towny is the plugin behind towns and nations on GeoMC. You found a town, claim land on the Earth map, invite other players, and join or form a nation. This guide covers the prices, the rules and every command you need.

    Show prices in

    How gold works

Everything is priced in gold, written as g. The bar above switches every price on this page between g, ingots and blocks. When a price doesn't divide evenly, the number is rounded and shown with โ‰ˆ.

    Gold nugget1 g
    Gold ingot9 g9 nuggets
    Gold block81 g9 ingots or 81 nuggets

    Prices

These are the prices set on the server. There is no daily upkeep for running a town or nation. Staying neutral is the only daily cost.

    WhatPricePay with
    Start a town576 g7 blocks + 1 ingot
    Claim one plot72 g8 ingots
    Start a nation9,450 g116 blocks + 6 ingots
    Reclaim a ruined town500 g6 blocks + 1 ingot + 5 nuggets
Change the map colour of your nation579 g7 blocks + 1 ingot + 3 nuggets
    Stay neutral (town)25 g per day2 ingots + 7 nuggets
    Stay neutral (nation)100 g per day1 block + 2 ingots + 1 nugget
Travel to another town in your nation5 g5 nuggets
Dying (paid to the player who killed you, if there was one)1 g1 nugget

Free: renaming a town or nation, merging towns, changing the map colour of your town, and travelling to the spawn of your own town.

Unclaiming a plot or deleting a town doesn't refund anything. A neutral town pays its cost from the town bank and a neutral nation pays from the nation bank. If it can't pay, it loses neutral status.

    Starting a town

    1. Pick your spot. Stand where you want your first plot. It must be at least 5 plots away from another town's home plot.
    2. Found the town. Run /town new [name] and pay 576 g.
    3. Claim more land. Walk to a plot next to your town and run /town claim. Each plot costs 72 g.
    4. Invite people. Run /town add [player]. They accept the invite to join.
    5. Set your spawn. Stand inside your town and run /town set spawn.
    • Plot size: each plot is 16 by 16 blocks.
    • How much you can claim: a town can hold 8 plots for every resident, counting the mayor and the first plot.
    • Claiming in bulk: /town claim rect 4 claims a square up to 9 by 9 plots around you, at 72 g per plot.
    • No outposts: outposts are switched off, so the land you claim has to connect to your town.
    • Invite only: new towns are closed. Run /town toggle open to let anyone join with /town join [town].

    Protection and PvP

    • Inside a town: only its residents can build, break blocks, use items and use doors, buttons and levers. Outsiders, allies and other nations can't.
    • PvP, mobs, fire and explosions are off inside towns by default. A mayor can change them with /town toggle, and a plot owner can with /plot toggle. There is a 30 second wait between toggles.
    • Outside towns: anyone can build and break blocks, PvP is on and monsters spawn.

    Plots and plot types

Mayors can give plots to residents or sell them with /plot forsale [price]. A plot owned by a resident is private. Only the owner and their friends can build there, and fellow residents can't unless the owner allows it. Add a friend with /res friend add [player].

Set a plot's type with /plot set [type]. The types on GeoMC are:

    • Default: an ordinary plot.
    • Shop: for stores and trading.
    • Arena: for fighting.
    • Embassy: for players from other towns.
    • Wilds: acts like wilderness for natural blocks such as ores, trees and plants.
    • Inn: for visitors.
    • Jail: for jail cells.
    • Farm: for crops and farm animals.
    • Bank: for the town bank.

    Banks and taxes

    • Banks: every town and nation has a bank. Add gold with /town deposit [amount] and take it out with /town withdraw [amount]. A bank has no limit on what it can hold.
    • Taxes: a mayor can charge residents a daily tax, either a flat amount of up to 1,000 g or a percentage of up to 25% (capped at 10,000 g). Plot tax can also be up to 1,000 g. Nation leaders can tax their towns the same way.
    • Default: tax starts at 0, so nothing is charged until a mayor sets one.
    • When: taxes are collected once a day at noon server time. /towny time shows how long until the next collection.

    Nations

A nation is a group of towns. The mayor of a town starts one with /nation new [name] for 9,450 g, and that town becomes the capital. Other towns join when the nation invites them with /nation add [town].

A nation's size is its total number of residents. The bigger it gets, the grander its title, and every town in it can claim extra plots.

    ResidentsTitleExtra per town
    0+Land of+10 plots
    10+Federation of+20 plots
    20+Dominion of+40 plots
    30+Kingdom of+60 plots
    40+The+100 plots
    60+The+140 plots
    • Allies and enemies: use /nation ally add [nation] and /nation enemy add [nation].
    • Neutral by default: new nations start neutral, which costs 100 g a day from the nation bank.
    • Map colour: changing it costs 579 g.

    Travel and respawning

    • Your town: /town spawn is free. There is a 5 second warm-up that cancels if you move, and a 10 second cooldown.
    • Your nation: /town spawn [town] takes you to another town in your nation for 5 g, and /nation spawn takes you to the capital of your nation. Travelling to unrelated or allied towns is turned off.
    • Dying: you lose 1 g, which goes to the player who killed you. You respawn at your bed or the world spawn, with 10 seconds of protection.

    Staying active

Players who don't log in for 30 days are removed from Towny, and their account is deleted. When a town falls into ruin it stays as ruins for 4 to 24 hours, and during that time it can be reclaimed with /town reclaim for 500 g.

    Command reference

Most commands have short forms: /t for /town, /n for /nation and /res for /resident. Some commands need a town or nation rank. /towny prices shows the prices in game.
